The 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) opened to an amused audience on 20 November 2018 in Panjim, Goa. There are many reasons why one should attend the festival ending on 28 November 2018, especially if you love movies. With 217 films from around the world, IFFI will showcase the largest, widest and most diverse collection of world-class films. The festival and the destination offer the best cocktail for a cinematic holiday. Here are the top five reasons why you should visit IFFI 2018.

Plethora of Films
With a vast selection of movies from over 68 countries, you’ll be reeling under the cinematic magic of the best filmmakers from around the world. IFFI 2018 will showcase critically acclaimed movies such as 'The Wild Pear Tree' by Nuri Bilge Ceylan, 'Climax' by Gaspar Noe, Ash Is The Purest White' by Zia Zhangke, 'Shoplifters' by Hirokazu Koreeda and many more!

The 49th edition of IFFI will screen the highest number of Oscar-nominated films, 16 to be specific, curated under multiple categories for IFFI. Award-winning film 'Birds Of Passage' will take you to the 70s era in Columbia ripe with drug trade and Polish film 'Cold War' will carry you into Poland in the 1950s where love found its way amid the cold war. Celebrating Talent
IFFI 2018 will honour the legacy of Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman. The Wild at Heart Master in His Craft: Retrospective section of Ingmar Bergman will take you on his journey through his lens and inspiration. IFFI 2018 will be showcasing seven of his best films - Summer With Monika, Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, Persona, Fanny and Alexander, Autumn Sonata and Saraband. A documentary on Bergman ‘Bergman Island’ directed by Marie Nyrerod which presents the master behind the camera has also been included in this section.

Ready, Get Set..Go
The all-inclusive genres at IFFI have a lot to offer to sports fans as well. An extension of the Khelo India Campaign, open-air screening of select biopics like Gold, Mary Kom, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, 1983, MSD - The Untold Story and Soorma will enthrall sports lovers to the core. To add cherry to the cake, cast and crew members of the films will be present during the screening of their respective films. These will include This section has been included Akshay Kumar, Chitrangada Singh, Shaad Ali, Reema Kagti, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, etc.

Master Blaster
The festival will host master classes by some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry where they will share their journeys, skills and expert tips on surviving and succeeding. Pick your choice of workshops with Anil Kapoor, David Dhawan, Varun Dhawan, Kaushik Ganguly, Srijit Mukherji, Prasoon Joshi, Dan Wolman, Anupama Chopra, Rajeev Masand, Jason Hafford, Meghna Gulzar and Gauri Shinde to name a few.
